”Do not let anyone treat you as if you are unimportant because you are young. Instead, be an example to the believers with your words, your actions, your love, your faith, and your pure life.” Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam (MTYS) was formed with the view that youth of the Church should accept Jesus Christ as their saviour and Lord, and bear witness to His powers. A resolution of the Sabha Prathinidhi Mandalam in 1933, led to the formation of this group. Yuvajana Sakhyam follows the four-fold programme of “worship, study, witness and service”
St. Thomas Mar Thoma church has a very active Yuvajana sakhyam which meets every second and fourth Sunday in the church after service. Furthermore, our Youth Cottage prayer is held every Fourth Friday in the residence of various youths whereby bible studies and meditation, singing sessions and prayers are held during these meetings. The youths are also involved in charity fund raising through sale. A few of our youths have even travelled to India to do voluntary and charity programmes. These organisations thus help our youths to increase their knowledge about Christ and increase their faith in Christian life, to conduct different Christian activities to increase their knowledge of the bible and church.
In this modern world where many youths tend to lead a non-religious life, we pray continuously that our youths continue to grow in Spirit and unity and live as good Christian models for the future generation. May God give us strength to use our talents and skills to be His good stewards to carry out His work on this earth
The Diocesan Yuvajana Sakhyam is the other wing of the youth ministry in the church. The Yuvajana Sakhyam predominantly caters to the immigrant youths of the diocese and organizes national conferences, regional conferences, and cultural activities.
